Paradise Beach Improvement Association Minutes March 13, 2009 Attendees: John Breen (president) Bob Brenton (vice president) Peggy Seaman (treasurer) Bob Seaman (board member) Michael & Bonnie Dausch Judy Nelson Kevin Goglia Donna Fertitta Duane and Diane Kaeding Richard Emmons Lee Wilson Meeting was called to order at 7:10pm by John Breen. John discussed the audit that was performed by himself, Bob Brenton and Shawn Wilson. The audit consisted of a review of two primary pieces of paperwork that summarized the financial activity for the past year. These documents were a printout from the BB&T bank of all of the transactions since December 2008, and a hand written report from Peggy Seaman that tallied the deposits and withdraws from the bank account for the past year. The next item on the agenda was the election of the Board of Directors. All ballots were reviewed, and they were all in favor of electing the incumbent Board of Directors. Bob Brenton cast the ballot for the vote, and it was approved by all members present. John then discussed items in the newsletter including the two new slide shows and the link to the crime report website (http://www.crimereports.com ). The March 09 newsletter presented the idea of reducing the cost of sending the newsletter by only sending it to the current PBIA members. The idea was deemed as counter productive to the interests of the PBIA, so it was disbanded. A move to collect more emails from all Paradise Beach residents will be pursued. A suggestion was made by Judy to collect emails from residents when we go around to sell tickets for the bull roast in October (?). Bob volunteered to canvas the neighborhood in the next couple of weeks to collect emails so we can use them for the next newsletter. John asked when a good time to plan a yard sale would be. It was suggested that we find out when the dumpsters were going to be available, and have the yard sale the week before the dumpsters are delivered. Steve Roach should be contacted regarding the dumpsters. Old Business: Bonnie suggested that we put a reminder in the next newsletter that the beach property is for members only. Budget Report: Current Balance = $5529.09 The Treasurers Report was read by Peggy, and accepted as read. Michael Dausch stated that special thanks should go out to Gus Kurtz Jr. for helping finish up the clearing of the land where the community building once stood. THANK YOU GUS! Judy mentioned that her husband can help with getting dirt if we need to add any more. John stated the he would probably get some seed to see if we can grow grass on the dirt that is there now. If we need to, we can buy some topsoil later. John stated that he plans to contact Sergeant Pleasant to have her come to a meeting in the near future to discuss community police issues. New Business: Donna Fertitta mentioned that a large branch is on the ground at the beach. John stated that he would try to get it removed before the next meeting. A discussion of the advertising page ensued. John stated that he has not contacted the people that were suggested, but he will renew his effort to bet businesses to advertise. John mentioned that the fence on the beach property was broken. Bonnie said that she would mention it to John Mason. Brandi Fertitta stated that we should mention the law for dog and cat ownership in the community. John stated that he would put it in the next newsletter. Meeting was adjourned at 7:55. NEXT MEETING: Tuesday April 14th at 7:00pm Location: Kurtz Beach!!
