Paradise Beach Improvement Association Minutes for the March 9, 2010 meeting Attendees: John Breen (president) Bob Brenton (vice president) Peggy Seaman (treasurer) Shawn Wilson (secretary) Bob Seaman Bonnie Dausch Michael Dausch Cindy Leake Joyce Goetz Julie Frank Al Clark Rose Mason Meeting was called to order at 7:03 pm by John Breen. Financial Audit As stipulated in the PBIA By-Laws, Bob Brenton and Shawn Wilson conducted an audit of the PBIA finances by reviewing the past year's bank statements that were provided by John Breen. Board Of Director Election: The next item on the agenda was the election of the Board of Directors. All ballots were reviewed, and they were all in favor of electing the incumbent Board of Directors. John Breen cast the ballot for the vote, and it was approved by all members present. Treasurers Report: Peggy read the treasury report, and the balance as of 3/09/10 was $5655.52. Old Business: The dumpsters will be at the community property on March 24th and 25th. Paint, chemicals, tires, appliances, and tree trunks are NOT allowed in the dumpsters. John attempted to get a later date for the dumpsters, but was not able to change the date. New Business: Last year there was a need to remove some broken limbs from several trees on the beach property. At that point there was an estimate ($900) written to trim/prune the remaining trees on the property. There was another estimate ($1900) written at the end of the season to trim the trees on both properties. It was decided that there wasn't time or money to approve this effort. It was decided at this meeting to get another estimate for both properties and to try to get this done on this year's budget. Bonnie reported that the rocks and blue barrels are scattered on the beach, and there needs to be some work done to restore the beach to a safe environment for community members. She stated that she would get estimates for the work. This was suggested as the higher priority than the tree trimming. Bob Seaman stated that he was able to meet with any contractors that were going to perform estimates for the work. John stated that there were only 8 people at the previous year's picnic, and he did not feel that it was worth the effort to have the picnic this year. He asked for suggestions on how to raise funds for the PBIA. A few suggestions were given including a craft show and a pancake brunch. Bonnie is planning to have a Bingo game on October 31st. She is planning to start it at 1:00, and provide a few small prizes for the winners. The cost will be $5.00 and hot dogs and soda will be provided. There will be a 50/50 and the proceeds will be donated to the PBIA. Bob Brenton made a motion to accept the proposal, and it was accepted. Bonnie will take the lead for this effort. John stated that the website has been converted to the new, less expensive format, and that there is still a need to get people to advertise on the website. John also asked for people to send any pictures from the snow storms of the previous winter to him so that we could put them on the website as a slide show. Meeting was adjourned at 7:25 pm. NEXT MEETING: Tuesday April 20th at 7:00pm Location: Kurtz Beach!!
