Paradise Beach Improvement Association Minutes for the March 14, 2012 meeting Attendees: John Breen (president) Peggy Seaman (treasurer) Bob Seaman Michael & Bonnie Dausch Duane & Diane Kaeding Charles Linderborn Sr. John & Joyce Merson Meeting was called to order at 7:08 pm by John Breen. Board Of Director Election The first item on the agenda was the election of the Board of Directors. All ballots were reviewed, and they were all in favor of electing the incumbent Board of Directors. John Breen cast the ballot for the vote, and it was approved by all members present. Treasurers Report: Peggy read the treasury report, and the balance as of 3/14/12 was $3463.93. Fundraising: The Autumn Bingo was not very successful as a fundraiser last year. As a result of this, we will probably not have another one this year. We will need to find another means of income for the fundraiser. A suggestion by Shawn Wilson was to have a "meal week" at the restaurant Bella Napoli in Pasadena. Bonnie said that she would talk to them since they were going to be at Kurtz's in the next week. This event is where Bella Napoli will set aside a week or two where they will donate a given amount to our cause for everyone from Paradise Beach that has dinner at their restaurant. More information will be forthcoming regarding this event. John mentioned having a block party in his cul-de-sac sometime during the year for anyone that wants to have a burger or hot dog and some refreshments. Donations for PBIA will be accepted at this event. Again details will be forthcoming once we determine what the fundraising event will be. Another fundraising method is to arrange a $35.00 tax on all households that will be collected by the county. This would provide the amount of money to sustain the PBIA, however it will need a vote by the Paradise Beach homeowners. Bonnie is meeting with Tim Klug from Bayside Beach community to discuss the details of this type of fundraising. Old Business: The condition of the roads in the community was brought up again. Especially the shoulders of the road around the intersection of Paradise Beach and Bayside Beach Roads. There are truck ruts on both sides of the road that are gathering pools of water. It was suggested that we contact the Department of Public Works to discuss the environmental damage that is caused by this situation. Again, Bonnie stated that she would contact the county about these hazards. The dumpsters will be delivered to the community property on Monday, September 10 and will be picked up by 1:30 on Wednesday September 12 this year. Paint, chemicals, tires, appliances, and tree trunks are NOT allowed in the dumpsters. John stated that he would like to have another May Day at the Beach this year. There were a lot of logs that washed up on the shore during the winter, and one of the blue containers has moved away from its original location and is almost on the beach. Buck Linderborn stated that he will try to arrange to have the wood removed soon, and we can concentrate our cleanup effort to making the beach property presentable for PBIA members. John also stated that he will call the county about the mosquito spraying again this year. We have been put on a waiting list, and have not been eligible for the spraying for the past two years. New Business: It was suggested that we safeguard the community property by putting up new property identification signs with no trespassing notices on them. Since we now have a clear demarcation of the property lines, we need to take the suggestion of the insurance company and clearly mark the property and enforce the boundary lines. Meeting was adjourned at 7:42 pm. NEXT MEETING: Wednesday April 10th at 7:00pm Location: Kurtz Beach!!
