Paradise Beach Improvement Association Minutes for the May 9, 2012 meeting Attendees: John Breen (president) Peggy Seaman (treasurer) Bob Seaman C R Linderborn Sr. Rose Mason John Merson Meeting was called to order at 7:05 pm by John Breen. Treasurers Report: Peggy read the treasury report, and the balance as of 5/9/12 was $4516.40. Old Business: Spring Census Fundraiser: John discussed the Spring Census, and stated that June 16th is the date for the census. We will meet at 11:00 and split up the list among the volunteers. We will then fan out and knock on some doors. Hopefully we will be able to visit the majority of the houses in the development. We are planning to sell 50/50 raffle tickets as well as verify residential information. We still need volunteers for the census. Please let me know if you are able to help. May Day at the Beach: John stated that the date for May Day at the beach is going to be May 12th. Buck and John Merson worked on clearing up most of the big logs that had been on the beach. Thanks for the help guys. John Breen stated that the only thing left to do is rake the beach and pick up the debris since the property is now being mowed regularly. Community Property Sign: John stated that he hadn't investigated the sign for the community property, but will do so during the next week. He also stated that he would like to put in a fence around part of the property. Bonnie stated that it would probably be too expensive for a fence, but maybe putting in corner posts with a few fence posts and a little garden in the middle would improve the aesthetic appeal of the property. John stated that he would look into pricing the corner posts. New Business: Choptank Cul-De-Sac Block Party: John stated that the residents that live on the Choptank avenue cul-de-sac (~2009 Choptank) are planning to have a block party on June 24th starting at 2:00. There will be hot dogs, hamburgers, chips and soda served. There will be no charge for the food and drinks, but donations will be accepted. They will also be selling 50/50 tickets for the PBIA fundraiser so if you are not able to get them during the census, you can purchase them at the block party. The drawing for the 50/50 will be at the July PBIA meeting. You do not have to be present to win, but your participation is always welcome. So come out to the block party and join the fun, meet your neighbors, or at least eat the food. Community Yard Sale: It was decided that we will have a community yard sale in September, the weekend prior to the dumpsters being delivered to the community property. Details will be forthcoming as we approach the date. County Roads Update: Buck Linderborn stated that he stopped into the County offices on Mountain Road to discuss the problem with the shoulders of the road on Paradise Beach Road at the Bayside Beach intersection. They basically told us we were on our own and the county was not willing to do anything about the ruts on the side of the road. Meeting was adjourned at 7:35 pm. NEXT MEETING: Tuesday June 12th at 7:00pm Location: Kurtz Beach!!
